I am a filmmaker and artist originally from Poland, currently based in New York City.  The projects I make vary in subjects: from dance-films, investigations of spaces (Natural History Museum), close observations of paper-making, fictional coming of age tales and more. At the core of my interest is the friction between stillness and movement, silence and sound, external circumstances and internal conflicts. Filmmaker Robert Bresson, dancer Akram Khan and theater director Jerzy Grotowski inspire my filmmaking philosophy: to condense energy by stillness, to give sound autonomy, to work “via negative”-  subtraction rather than accumulation.

My works have screened at numerous film festivals and venues, including New York Jewish Film Festival at Lincoln Center, Roxie Theater in San Francisco, Mini Cinema in Cincinatti, Fullbright Commission in Sri Lanka, Kriti Gallery in India, among others. I was awarded the Black Maria Director’s Choice Award, Ann Arbor Festival Jury Award, and Grand Prix at Montreal Underground Film Festival. I am a recipient of funding from The New York State Council on the Arts, Jerome Foundation and Cultural Fund of European Council. In 2019, I was selected to participate in a film development workshop organized by Venice Biennale.

Professionally, I work as a freelance editor and sound designer (the Criterion Collection, the Museum of Chinese in NYC) and feature length films (Barney's Wall, My Erotic Body, Stardust: Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown). Between 2015 - 2019 I worked on the Andy Warhol Film Project as a 16 mm film tech specialist for the Whitney Museum in NYC.

I hold an MA in Czech Language and Literature (Poland/Czech Republic), MA in film and digital media (USA), MFA in film production (USA). Currently I am a part-time faculty at the New School and teach digital media and editing.
